Kody Numedahl began racing in 2004 at MHOR R/C Raceway in Denver, Colorado. With a supportive family behind him, Kody raced locally with his first race vehicles the B4 from Team Associated and then later a BJ4 Worlds Edition by JConcepts. The local racing scene in Colorado was so competitive that MHOR became a hot bed for talent with the likes of Dustin Evans, Matt Chambers, Lars Johnson all racing each weekend to improve their skills. Kody arrived a little late to the scene but picked up speed quickly and formed a bond with the locals and became a well respected racer in just 1 year.
In 2005, the Numedahl family made the trip to larger events around Colorado, Arizona and California and was quickly noticed by the JConcepts race team and brought on as a team driver in 2006. Kody officially joined the Team Associated race team in 2007 and was known on the West Coast as one of the up and coming racing talents. During 2008 Kody took his passion for design to the next level by entering college and began working on a mechanical engineering degree. While going to school, Kody was also practicing hard and competing at a new level and battling Dustin Evans each week for MHOR bragging rights. 2009 was a landmark year for Kody traveling to Omaha, Nebraska for the 1/10th ROAR Off-Road Nationals where he qualified in the A-main and battled against the nation’s fastest drivers in his specialty class of 2wd modified.
During 2010-2011 Kody improved at a noticeable rate, prompting JConcepts and Team Associated to move him to A-team status where he began traveling with the factory crew to events throughout the United States. Kody began making the podium and winning at events such as the Spektrum Off-Road Championships, Winter Indoor Shootout and Invitational and the Rumble in the Rockies during 2011 making him a legitimate threat at almost any upper level regional event.
During 2012, Kody made some big changes after graduating college and moved to California to be Team Associated’s newest design engineer. Kody immediately made his presence known on the national racing tour and in “Area 51” where he tested and directly developed new products for the team during early 2013. In January, he competed in the Reedy Race of Champions, invitational class and during the summer raced the 2013 1/10th ROAR Off-Road Nationals and later his first 1/10th IFMAR World Championship. At the 3 largest 1/10th Off-Road races of the year, Kody placed himself in the top 10 in each event which is something only accomplished by a select few during that span. Kody finished off the 2013 racing season taking the JBRL title in the 2wd modified class making him the top series performer in Southern California’s premier racing series.
Today you’ll see Kody at the races testing and tuning at his new home track OC/RC Raceway. At the larger events you’ll find Kody alongside his father, Larry, working together while also helping teammates secure the best possible results for the team.
