Daimon Borkowicz was introduced to R/C racing in 2008, at just 8 years old he started driving a Traxxas Stampede in the backyard and later at a track in Ft. Myers, FL. Daimon’s father Dan is an avid R/C fan and decided to make it a family sport when he purchased a Team Associated T4 as a racing truck for Daimon. In 2010, Daimon traveled to the JConcepts Super Cup Championship series where he began competing in the stock classes. Paul Wynn from JConcepts was quick to discover Daimon’s talent for R/C and began mentoring him as a young and upcoming driver.
The 2011 racing season was a breakout year when Daimon won the stock buggy and truck classes representing JConcepts in the Florida Super Cup Championship Series. Daimon immediately moved up to the modified classes where he started from the bottom but worked his way up into contention very quickly. In 2012, Daimon made a trip to the Reedy International Off-Road Race of Champions where he finished in the E-main of 4wd buggy and F-main in 2wd buggy. As a 12 year old, Daimon became recognized as an emerging driver and was added to the Team Associated, Reedy and LRP team as a regional driver. During December of 2012 Daimon earned the 2wd modified Region 4 Championship racing at Shiverville Raceway in High Springs, FL.
2013 started a busy year as Daimon travelled with the JConcepts team to the Reedy Race of Champions and Indoor National Series events. Daimon made an impression at the Reedy Race taking the victory in the Junior’s class ahead of a solid field of young drivers. Daimon’s race resume successfully secured a spot for him into the 2013 IFMAR World Championships and he began practicing and testing for the premier event in the R/C racing world. A full summer of racing at events such as the JConcepts Spring and Summer Indoor Nationals, Alabama Manufacturers Shootout, ROAR Electric Off-Road Nationals and the JConcepts Clash provided Daimon a great opportunity to race against some of the country’s best drivers in both 1/10th and 1/8th off-road.
Daimon’s ability was on point during the Summer Indoor Nationals where he qualified 4th in the 2wd modified class and TQ’ed stock in his very first trip to Outback Raceway in Chico, CA. Attention was turned to the ROAR Off-Road Nationals where Daimon finished 2nd in the 2wd stock class and 3rd in the truck stock class at his very first ROAR National event.
A lengthy trip to the IFMAR World Championship in Chico ended with Daimon making many new friends and placing well, finishing 71st in the 2wd class and 82nd in the 4wd class. Daimon even won his main event twice in the 2wd class after a protest by a competitor forced the organizers to run the Main twice in the same day. With all new confidence, Daimon returned home to race in the 2013 Region 4 Championships where he TQ’ed and won the 4wd and Truck modified classes to bring his regional title count to 3 at just 13 years old.
In his time away from the track, Daimon puts his school work first while taking on other hobbies such as playing the guitar, riding bicycles and playing video games. During wrench session’s Daimon enjoys his favorite movie the Karate Kid and popular music and videos via his smart phone.
