Chad Due became involved in R/C at a very young age when his father taught him to fly R/C airplanes at 6 years old. As a Christmas present in 1994, Chad’s parents purchased him an RC10T and he began racing at Dirt Heaven Raceway in Champion, Wisconsin, where he raced weekly, fine tuning his skills as a driver. In 2002, Chad took his racing on the road where he landed at Trackside Hobbies in Milwaukee, WI, for what is now known as the Spektrum Off-Road Championships. As a relative newcomer, Chad was able to win both the 2wd and truck modified classes at the sizeable regional event raising the eyebrows of more seasoned drivers.
A passion for engineering, landed him as a student at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay and later on a transfer to the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee for the more advanced Electrical Engineering program. Moving to Milwaukee was a great time to become involved in R/C once again when Chad took a part-time job at Trackside Hobbies to help customers and regain his edge on the race track. During his final year of college, Chad planned a trip to CRCRC’s Midwest Electric race where he excelled in the pro loaded stock and modified classes. Chad took the victory in the stock buggy class and placed 3rd in modified behind seasoned veteran racers.
In the summer of 2006, Chad traveled to the ROAR Off-Road Nationals in Indianapolis, IN, and surprised himself by qualifying in the 2wd modified A-main and finishing 8th as a privateer racer. After the event, Chad took on Sponsorships from Team Associated, Reedy, LRP and began his relationship with JConcepts. Since 2006, Chad has traveled throughout the Midwest earning victories at the annual Motorama event in Harrisburg, PA, and the Chi-town Shootout at Leisure Hours Raceway, taking JConcepts products to the top of the podium. Known as an extremely smooth driver, vehicle setup guru and indoor tire selection expert ranks Chad as a favorite at just about any indoor off-road event in the country.
Chad’s racing peaked during the 2011 Reedy Race of Champions where he secured the 2wd Open Championship at Southern California’s West Coast R/C Raceway.
Each year, Chad maintains his skills at the Spektrum Off-Road and CRCRC’s Winter Midwest Championship events, running up front in his classes of specialty, 2wd, 4wd and truck modified. When he’s not racing you’ll find Chad focused on his Electrical Engineering career, helping a friend promote a local event or cheering for his favorite Wisconsin based professional sports team.
