JConcepts Continues Florida State Series Success

Event: JConcepts FSORS Round 2
Location: Daytona, Fl
Dates: January 10-11th, 2009
Classes: 1/8th Buggy, 1/8th Truck
Race Reporter: Andrew Moore

The JConcepts FSORS rolled into its second round at the East Coast RC Club after a massive first race with over 190 entries. The weather was in the 70s during the day and cooled off at night, but there wasn’t a cloud in the sky so the track saw plenty of sun. The Daytona crew provided a difficult layout with an abrasive surface which quickly grooved as cars hit the track.

Saturday's qualifying first round had former World Champion Billy Easton taking the top spot with a decent but beatable run. As the day progressed the track got faster and faster and by the second round the track was primed for a new TQ. Local young gun JP Tirronen posted the quick time until the last heat where JConcepts new signing JR Mitch threw down. JR used Cross Hairs to put a in a blistering 13 lap run taking the over all TQ. JR completed the sweep of qualifying by TQ'ing both rounds of 1/8th truck on the new Half-Ups Cross Hairs.

The track looked well grooved for Sunday's mains and with a little work the minimal dust was cleared off the track. The buggy A-main saw a fair amount of action with Ruona, Mitch, and Easton swapping the lead, but as the race wore on JR and his Crowbars who would prevail at the 30 minute mark. JConcepts' Nick Angelides made his way through the field and was able to grab 2nd near the end of the race. JR started the Truggy main on Half-Ups Cross Hairs and was able to create a two lap lead on the field. Mid way through the race he had a flame out which caused him problems for the remainder of the race. He fell down the order, but was able to work his way back up to 5th.  JConcepts' Nathan Wincek was able to manage a respectable 2nd place though.
