JConcepts was out in full force to support a great turnout at the electric Florida State Series Race held at B&B Hobbies in Hudson, FL. The B&B track crew really put together an outstanding track layout that was extremely challenging yet flowing for all drivers. Being an electric only day silence was the theme which made for a very relaxing day.
In the 2wd modified class Jason Ruona, driving his RC10B4, took the top qualifying position while Paul Wynn also driving a RC10B4 qualified in 2nd. Andrew Moore put down an excellent run in the 2nd round of qualiying driving the Kyosho RB5 qualifing him in the 4th position. All 3 drivers were using the JConcepts Groovy front tires and Double Dee's rear tires for the wet somewhat loose conditions. Rulux wheels for the B4 were the popular choice as was the B4 Hi-Flow body and 6.5" high downforce rear wing combination.
The 4wd modified class is always especially quick and one of the most entertaining classes of the day. The B&B track layout really lent itself to the 4wd class in terms of challenge and size. A 1/8th scale type triple jump in front of the drivers stand provided an additional challenge for the 4wd buggies. Jason Ruona again took the BJ4 Worlds Edition to the top of qualifying. An outstanding run in rounds 1 and 2 put the BJ4 out front but round 2 was ballastic with Jason jumping the triple straight from the opening lap on his way to the fastest run of the weekend. Jason choose the Double Dee's in Green Compound front and rear to gain the extra edge on the competition. Jason also chose the Rulux wheels for the BJ4/B44 front and rear and also the B44 Hi-flow body with 6.5" high downforce wing.
For the first time at the Florida State Series the J82 class was introduced as a racing class. As a group of spectators surrounded the track in support, the J82 drivers pushed the limit to see what was possible with the large 2wd buggy. Jason Ruona and Paul Wynn were on cruise control with their J82's and never looked to attack the difficult triple jump. However, Jon Faulkner wasted little time as he attacked the triple on the his very first lap. Jon came up short on the first lap attempt but with the crowd on his side Jon continued to push the envelope. The qualifing battle was between Jason and Paul but the energy of the crowd was on Jon's side as he pushed the monster buggy to the limit and eventually pulled off the most difficult jump on the track. An impressive debut in 2-ways. Jason and Paul showed the shear speed and agility of the larger buggy running lap times at the same pace as 2wd modified and truck modified. Jon showed the potential by pushing the limit in terms of durability and capability.
