Summertime – ROAR Off-Road Nationals:
For 1/10th electric off-road the premier event in the United States is the ROAR Off-Road Nationals. Held at the Arcor Raceway in Albuquerque, New Mexico, all major teams were represented. The highly delicate and abrasive surface combined with a technical Arcor track layout made for intense practice and pre-race preparation. Negotiating the Arcor surface at racing speed required the most deliberate and precise techniques available in each driver’s repertoire. Set-up, tire choice and condition were critical as each driver tuned to win.
In Qualifying -
With his BJ4 Worlds Edition prepared in top form, Jared Tebo wasted little time, Jared secured the TQ position early on by recording a 2nd in the first round of qualifying and a 1st in round 2 and round 3 respectively. Ryan Cavalieri took round 4 of qualifying to secure the 2nd position on the starting grid. JConcepts teammates Ryan Maifield and Steven Hartson qualified in the 3rd and 8th positions respectively.
With a full field of 4wd buggies behind him, Jared took on all comers in A-1 as he battled Ryan Cavalieri, Ryan Maifield and Mike Truhe to the finish. Jared finished just 3 seconds ahead of Ryan Cavalieri setting the stage for an exciting A-2 and 3. In A–2 Jared got off to a great start and was maintaining a comfortable lead when a traction roll sent him off course. Jared dropped to 3rd place and never recovered as Ryan Cavalieri went on and cruised to victory. The decisive A-3 started with Jared taking the early lead and Ryan Cavalieri in 2nd. With Jared setting the pace, Ryan stayed within striking distance. With Jared leaving space in the off camber section, Ryan made the move and powered inside. Ryan’s pass stuck and he took over the lead and never looked back on his way to the win in A-3 and the overall national championship in 4wd modified for 2007.
Back to Back –
With this victory the BJ4 Worlds Edition has claimed back to back ROAR Modified National Championships.
