Felix Law and Jake Thayer take big wins for JConcepts at the 2011 Surf City Classic.
This past weekend Orange County Radio Control Raceway (OC/RC) held their 4th Annual Surf City Classic. This year was the biggest turnout in the history of the event with 310 entries. Big time players were in attendance at this year’s event, including JConcepts Team Drivers, Steven Hartson, Brian Kinwald, Josh Numan, Jake Thayer, Zack Rogers, Jimmy Barnett and From Florida, Felix Law.
Track conditions were amazing all weekend. It took 3-4 runs to get the JConcepts Gold Compound Bar Codes, the tire of choice for most, to break in. There was talk in the pits of the track going to slicks and it surely did by the time qualifying was coming to an end and main events began. Jake Thayer sent us an update over the weekend saying “The track is a lot of fun, and very high speed, with fast lap times in the high 17 to low 18 second range. Robert Black and the OCRC crew have built a great layout that’s very easy to learn, and made for some great racing.”
Felix Law ended the weekend with 1st Place in the Short Course 4x4 class. Felix’s Losi SCT-E was covered with JConcepts all weekend including the newly released #0205 Raptor X-Flow body, #3044-05 Bar Codes tires in gold compound, JC Profiled closed cell inserts, mounted on #3346B Rulux wheels.
JConcepts took the top 3 positions in 4wd modified buggy with Jake Thayer taking 1st place, Felix Law 2nd and Jimmy Barnett in 3rd. All 3 drivers relied on the aero / gripping package of JConcepts utilizing the Punisher body, 6.5” H.D. rear wing and Bar Codes tires in gold compound.
Steven Hartson took 3rd place in the 2wd modified buggy invite class joining JConcepts team mates, Josh Numan (5th) and Brian Kinwald (8th). Josh Numan scored a 3rd place finish in the Racing Truck modified invite class with teammates Steven Hartson (5th) and Brian Kinwald (7th).
Congratulations to all the winners and to OC/RC for another great event.
