JConcepts Rocks the Southern Indoor Championship with 2 TQ’s.
The 2nd Annual Southern Indoor Championship was run this weekend in Cullman, Alabama. The indoor event featured a hard packed fast racing surface with a Bobby Moore designed track offering a challenge of jumps, straights, whoops and elevation changes. The event provided the 200+ in attendance several days of racing with performances from rock bands and good food on hand this was certainly the place to be.
In the Pro Classes it was JConcepts domination in the TQ positions. In Pro Buggy, the top three drivers were on JConcepts tires, with Brandon Melton TQ'ing, Barry Pettit in second, and Chris Pace in third. Tim Smith also produced a great qualifying effort placing him 9th in the A-main. The 45 minute main ended with 2 of 3 top positions (2nd and 3rd) being JConcepts drivers, as Ryan Lopez won with Barry Pettit close behind in second and Brandon Melton in third. The blue compound Crowbars and Crossbows were hooked up throughout the main and still had over 1/2 the tread at the finish. The Illuzion body, wings, and Mono Max-up wheels also took the brutal punishment of the hard packed track.
In Pro Truggy, the JConcepts Cross Hairs captured 3 of the top 5 qualifying spots. Barry Pettit TQ'ed with fellow team drivers Chris Pace in 2nd and Greg Smith in 4th. Brandon Melton was also in the A-main after some difficulties in qualifying. Pace, Smith and Melton were out early, as the track was brutal on equipment. Pettit also experienced problems, steering servo saver issues, but managed to get a podium finish in 3rd and stay within a lap of the leaders. The Cross Hairs mounted on the Rulux Half-ups truggy wheels, along with the MBX6T Illuzion High-Flow body were awesome throughout the 45 minute main. Just as in the buggy race, the JConcepts blue compound provided great traction during the entire race and the tires had 3/4 tread on them even after 83 laps of high throttle torture!
The Third Annual SIC race has already been scheduled for 2010 and we are looking forward to another great event.
